General Rules


This palace is rated PG for Parental Guidance, in public areas while Member rooms are PG 13 in specified cases.. Be advised that all material allowed on this server is monitored and policed by the Avatar Palace Staff Team.

NO excessive profanity (which also includes profanity directed at anyone), racism, abusive behavior, threats, harassment and general obnoxiousness will be allowed on this server.

You are not required to have a pleasant personality here, but you ARE required to be considerate of others. This means you may not cover others with your avatar, or say the same thing over and over. Do not put member names into signs or avatars if your intent is to insult or slander them. Do not continue to bother others after they have asked you to stop.

You are not allowed to use scripts, cyborgs and/or any other program for the sole purpose of harassing and or irritating other members. This includes scripts created for spamming, lagging etc.

You are not allowed to use avatars that are racist, nude, topless (female), or ones that depict pornographic acts (this includes cartoons, or any other forms of pictures deemed pornographic).

You are not allowed to advertise other palaces, sites, emails, aim names, phone numbers and etc., on this server. You can leave an avatar advertisement for palaces in the advertising room only.

You are not allowed to clone, screen cap, or take anyone's avatar without there permission. The use of altered palace clients to steal scripts or avatars are not allowed. (In take av rooms people do not have to ask you for permission)

While wizards are here to keep the atmosphere respectful and a place for everyone to enjoy, they are to be respected. For those who choose to harass Wizards he/she will be warned, if the harrassment continues you will be gagged for a specified time and ungagged when deemed necessary. Afterwards if this harassment continues he/she will be banned from the server for 24 hours.


Avs, Names and Room names

Avatars, names and room names within Avatar Palace need to stay PG and comply with all our rules. Avatars, names and room names, including any of these things, will NOT be allowed.

Avatars, Names & Room Names

·   That are considered vulgar, sexual, pornographic etc.
·   Advertising another palace, site, myspace, aim or phone number (This applies to usernames, roomnames and avatars)
·   Made to harass another person or staff member
·   That are sacrilegious
·   That contain curse words
·   That are distasteful
·   That contain a swastika
·   That contain racism or racist comments

Names

When choosing your name, please remember the rules listed here. You should choose a name that will comply with these rules. 
You should be original when making your name and not copy someone else's. 
We do not allow the use of Wiz, Wizard, Staff, God or any other name that would make people think you are on staff at our palace, if you are not on staff. 
We ask that if you are going to use punctuation names only, that you use at least 3 different ones, with words. We're going to allow faces so <_<, <.<, >_>, >.>, =.=, etc are allowed and they don't have to have 3 different symbols.
Example... "!~name~!" would be allowed, where as "..." would not. 


Member Rooms
 
While we try to keep our members happy and allow them to have their own rooms within our palace, these rooms are required to follow the general rules set forth by this palace. The only way the adult content rule will be overridden is if the member room is locked and labeled as 18+ in the room name. Please be advised that it's the room owner's responsibility to ensure everyone in the room is of the appropriate age to view adult content. Room owners should also be sure to save the log that verifies the members’ ages. (Pages coming from locked or passworded rooms will still be dealt with also illegal activities such as child porn or any other illegal act are forbidden and will be reported) You will be held responsible for content in your room. (This rule is on trial basis and may be revoked at anytime)

Keep in mind

If you have any questions about what is and isn't allowed for member rooms, feel free to email or ask a staff member. Remember that others may have different views than you. Treat them as you would have them treat you. There's a `mute option if a user gets too annoying. If that doesn't work, you may `page to call a Wizard for assistance.

For a complete list of commands available to you, type `help and look in your log. If you do not follow the rules you may be removed from the server without warning. 

The Palace Staff have final say and as such, you are required to comply with their requests. If our Staff asks you to do something, do not argue. If you feel that you did not violate our Terms of Service and wish to send us a comment, you may send email to tyler@avatarpalace.net. Please include all details of the incident and, after investigating it, you will receive a reply

FAQ
These are the most frequently questions we, as wizzes, get asked, so we have compiled them, with their answers, here for you!

How do I upload my own member room back ground?
-If you would like your own member room back ground you can make your own and email it as an attachment to tyler@avatarpalace.net. You may only have one back ground per person and it must be unique from all the others and in good quality. It should be 512 x 384 pixels saved in .jpg or .gif format. If if it is in .gif format please make sure to have the palace palette applied. (Pleas note that not all of the submited back grounds are accepted, you will be notified if yours is, please be patieint it may take a few weeks from when you send it to hear back if it is accepted.)

I have the software, where do I get a registration code?
-If you need a registration code click here.

How do I become a wiz?
-Click here to fill out the application.

What is cloning and why is it wrong?
-cloning is taking someone's avatar w/o their permission. It's wrong because it's stealing, again, w/o the permission of the owner of the avatar.

How do I get my own Palace?
-You need the palace server to do that. You can download one in our downloads section by clicking downloads on the left.

I have the server, where do I get a registration code for it?

What do I do if someone clones my av?
-Try and speak to them in a mature manner. If discussing the issue with them calmly doesn't work, 'page a wiz.

Who is the owner?

Someone has my av! What do I do?

Where do I get avs of my own?
-We have Vending rooms where our wizzes have donated original avatars just for you.

How do I get my picture onto Av Palace?

Now with PalaceChat it is fast and easy to import your picture. All you have to do is open up your propbag which looks like a breif case. Then click the new button from there you can choose to import an image or paste an image.

Below is how to import pictures for Palace32.

-Each prop is 44 x 44. Each av is made up of 9 props maximum, making a total allowance of 132x132. Make sure your image is this size by using the image resize option in an editor like Paint Shop Prop, MSPaint, Adobe Photoshop, Paint.net, or Gimp. You also will need the Palace palette, which we will explain next. Load the palette to the image, and then click select all, then copy. Go back to Palace and Click "Edit". Click "Paste Multiple props." There you go! (palletes can be found here Paint shop pro, Adobe, and Mac.)

Why are people telling me that a part of my av is missing, but I can see it?
-This is a bug that happens in Palace often. To rectify this, select the prop and click edit. You will see a name typed in there, rename the prop to whatever you wish. Click "Ok" . This usually rectiifies the problem, although you may have to do it more than once at times.

My av keeps blinking!
-Go into "Edit" and unclick "anim"

I see people with different colored bubbles when they talk, how do they do that?
-Click Edit on the top of your screen and Click Preferences. Tinted balloons will be in there, along with other options. or press the "+" or "-" keys on the numpad.

How do I page a wizard?
-type 'page then your message

What commands are available to users?
-type 'help and it will give you a list

How do I make a new room?
-type 'newroom

How do I choose a background and what backgrounds are available?
-type 'rpicture and the name of the picture. Click here for a list and to view all our bgs available

What are all the letters added on to people's names?
-Those are ascii characters created by the alt key and a combination of four numbers on your keyboard, ie alt-0123. You can create your name that way by placing a period in front of your name. or copy them from the Character map found in the start menu.

What games do you have? -
We offer Checkers, Chess, a Casino, Tic Tac Toe, XO, Hamster Hop, Yahtzee, Laser Tag, BackGammon, and GridLock. Click Games at the Main Gate to access them all!

How do I find a room?
Hit CNTRL-G on your keyboard and it will bring up the room list.

How do I find a user?
-Hit CNTRL-F on your keyboard and it will bring up the user list.

How do I play sounds?
-Hit CNTRL-Y on your keyboard and it will bring up the sound list.

How do I edit?
-Click on your prop bag at the bottom of your screen. Then when it comes up, click edit. Use the various tools to color, erase, size, and edit your prop. Or any Image editing program and importing them into your palace client.

How do I flip my av?
-That is done by flipping each prop individually. In the edit screen, hit cntrl-shift-h for horizontal flips, or cntrl-shift-V for vertical fips. Then use the arrows on your keyboard to move the prop appropriately.

What do I do if my prop bag corrupts?
-The best way to avoid this is to back up your palace.prp file often in another folder so you have a backup. If you also compress your prop file often, it will most likely avoid this problem. Click File, then Compress prop file. Never shut down Palace improperly as you will lose avs/props. Always shut it down properly. If it does happen though you have can downlaod a new blank prop bag from our downloads section on the left and unzip it to thepalace folder.

How do I hide?
-Type 'hide. This hides your name from the user list

How do I turn off sounds?
-At the top of your screen, click Options. It will be in that menu.

Someone told me they were a wiz and they could give me a virus through my avatar. Is this true?
-This is NOT true. You cannot get a virus through palace.

Can I do global message/can a wiz do a global message for me?
-No. Global messages are for server info or for Av Palace events only.

What do I do if someone won't leave me alone?
-See the next question. If 'mute doesn't work, you can 'page a wiz.

How do I mute someone?
-Right click on them and a menu will come up. Click Mute

Why does this Palace let me swear, if I'm not allowed to swear?
Casual swearing is allowed, but may not be directed at another user in an offensive manner, nor is swearing just because you 'can' allowed. Swearing between friends is fine but we have visitors of all ages at this site and we have to protect them from things that may not be appropriate.
